Monica Toninelli
I am currently a research fellow at the University of Udine.
My research project aims to explore the neural bases of Spirituality and Religiosity, investigating their relationship with the processing of interoceptive and exteroceptive stimuli within the framework of predictive coding. I am also working on a study investigating the effects of tVNS on cerebral plasticity, measured using specific TMS protocols.
I graduated in “Psychological Sciences and Techniques” at the University of Florence (2021) and subsequently I completed my Master’s degree in “Neuroscience and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation (2024) at the University of Bologna with the thesis “Alpha Waves and Response Criterion: a TMS - EEG co-registration study in an audio-visual integration task”. My research focused on the role of Alpha waves in influencing the perception of individuals with schizotypal personality traits, using an audio-visual integration paradigm.
Currently, my interests regard the investigation of cognitive neuroscience, with a specific focus on studying brain rhythms using different neurophysiological techniques such as electroencephalography (EEG), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation (tVNS).
